The Information Technology Department, aims to provide effective and efficient ICT services to the University, establish collaboration and partnership with public and private higher learning institutions and bridge the gap between IT industry and academic skills through training, and research. The following are the office’s accomplishments:

QUALITY AND EXCELLENCE

  • For a more productive and well partition of duties, the IT Department implemented the organizational structure wherein department have been divided into four (4) units as listed below:

    • Support Unit - serves as the front liner who receives calls from the customers, do the first level of service and/or designate the services to the concern group.

    • Computer Harware Services Unit - handles problems in technical hardware infrastructure.

    • Network Services Unit - handles problems in network inrastructure.

    • AV Media Unit - handles problems with multi media equipments and give assistance on the use of those equipments.

    • Software Application Unit - handles changes or problems with the in- house software

  • The IT Department has implemented job/service request systems using a Job Order/ Job Request form. To facilitate the speedy servicing of requests, clients are encouraged to dial the office’s number- HOTLINE 148.

  • In line with ISO standards, the IT Department provides the documents and data needed such as Documentation on ID Processing/Guidelines and Procedure, Network Documentation, Documentations of Policies and Procedures of IT Department, Documentation of LISS, Leaf and SARP.

  • To legalize the use of productivity applications in computer laboratories, ITD purchased 300 units of Microsoft Office 2007 with the first 200 units for the academic year 2008-2009 and the remaining 100 units for the academic year 2009-2010.

  • The IT Department purchased and installed Kaspersky Anti-virus for the protection of production server and clients for LPU Manila, LPU Cavite and LPU Makati.

  • As requested by the students, the IT Department created a proposed design of the student ID validity sticker for approval.

  • As requested by the Office of the Alumni Affairs, IT Department created and implemented the approved new design of the Alumni ID.

  • The IT Department conducted a feasibility study on Alumni ID processing to be able to distinguish who are the concerned units/personnel and to lessen the time of ID production during peak seasons. As a result, early releasing of Alumni IDs has been achieved.

  • As a replacement to the Lyceum Prepaid Sim being used by the students in viewing their grades and school activities, the IT Department with the approval of the President, signed a contract with Globe for “ Campus Connect” using the student’s existing Lyceum Prepaid Sim (for LPU Manila and LPU Cavite).

  • The IT Department, in order to monitor the IT equipments in each unit of the University, conducted and accomplished the IT facilities and equipments inventory.

  • In coordination with the CPAD, IT Department is now improving and updating the LPU Website. CPAD will be the one to update the website content, while IT Department will be in charge of the corporate web design and upload.

  • One of the projects of the IT Department is IT Facility Preventive Maintenance for all units. Batch 1 of maintenance has been accomplished from the month of September 2008 to January 2009. In part of the AV/Media Group, they are also conducting the preventive maintenance for multi media rooms and equipments.
