History of CITHM
BS Tourism was initially offered at the College of Arts and Sciences and BS Hotel and Restaurant Management was
initially offered at the College of Business Administration. In 1998, the College of International Hospitality Management
was founded. It was the first to use the word “hospitality” in a college.
This college has the largest student enrollment for Hotel and Restaurant Management nationwide having over 5,000
enrollees. It is also the 1st to offer specialization in Cruise Line Management.
VISION
To be the center of academic excellence in international hospitality education in the areas of tourism, hotel,
restaurant, culinary arts and cruise line operations.
MISSION
To provide the local and international tourism and hospitality industry with quality formed integral professionals
and or entrepreneurs who are knowledgeable, skillful and value laden.
COLLEGE OBJECTIVES
As a center of excellence for the tourism and hospitality education, the College is committed to achieve
the following objectives:
- Students - To satisfy students with internationally responsive, relevant, and innovative curricular programs,
institutional facilities, qualified instructors, and intensive practical training for better work and business
opportunities;
- Faculty and Staff - To provide faculty and employees with a professional organizational climate, career development
and competitive compensation and benefits so that they may achieve personal and professional fulfillment that will
harness the maximum potentials of the individual;
- Industry - To respond to the needs of the tourism and hospitality industry for knowledgeable, skillful, and
professional graduates;
- Community - To undertake tourism and hospitality industry relevant advocacies in the research and extension
activities of the college that will benefit chosen communities of the College.
DEPARTMENTS
- HRM Department- this department provides foundation and specialization study in the Hotel Management field through
academic, laboratory and field intership program.
- Tourism Department- provides students the knowledge and skills they need to meet the world-class tourism standard.
- Cruiseline Department- Provides a pool of knowledge, skillful and value laden seafarer's who are able to respond to
the growing needs of the global curise industry.
- Business Education Core Department- Provides foundation and specialization study to ensure efficiency and quality
related business programs towards hospitality and tourism industry.
- Practicum Department- Provides LPU students for various practicum services and placement in the local and
international hospitality industry (tourism attractions, hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, airlines, resorts and
other related operations).
